Apr 7, 1862. In the morning Davis went to town to see Capt Canova, the little boys joined him there & they took a hunt in the swamp but did not kill anything. In the afternoon one of Winston’s company came for a gun that was here & left another. Davis & Henry went to kill a wild hog, but did not.

[Rebecca] Apr 7, 1862. Suficient wind to keep off sandflies until after 10 o’clk – Boys have another unsuccessful hunt.

Apr 8, 1862. Davis & the boys went turkey hunting before breakfast did not get anything. Went fishing in the afternoon brought home five fish.

[Rebecca] Apr 8, 1862. Boys go very early to hunt turkies – return to breakfast, unsuccessful. After dinner they fish in the Ocklawaha and bring home some fine trout & cat-fish,
