My dear boys,

We hear that Mr Haliday (once the Rev.) leaves Welaka to-day, and he offers to take any thing we have to send – therefore Mrs Maxey’s bag, so long delayed for want of an opportunity, is to go, and I favor you with a few lines, notwithstanding you have one (or I hope you have) written on Monday night to go by the Silver Spring. We hope to have a mail by the Silver Spring on Monday and if the letters from "Father" do not come then, you may expect to see me come down tearing, ‑ a raving distracted somebody!  Mr Smith says that it has frequently happened of late that letters he has mailed here to go beyond Palatka, have returned to him in the next mail ‑ A striking proof of the remarkable efficiency and acuteness of the P.M. at the aforesaid place.  Winston is to remain here until Lieut. Gray returns from Georgia, which will probably be two weeks longer at least.  He stays to attend to the forwarding of provisions &c which are to arrive here and to be sent to their camp at Dunn Lawton.  We are very glad of this arrangement.

By this opportunity I send a shoe to be half‑soled for Henry ‑ the mate is good yet ‑ and he needs another pair of the same kind, No 3.  Tivie would like to have you send her a dish‑pan, a large size if you can get one, and a roll of twilled tape ‑ width of sample, also a few nutmegs.  Winston wishes you to send him five No 10. plough points for Yankee ploughs. I believe this is the sum of our wants – Did Willie get flannel shirts for W-n if so, they can come in same parcel – I am in haste as Willie Stephens is waiting for this -With an ocean of love for you both and kind regards to friends ‑

                                                                                                Mother
